The Virginia Beach 4-H Livestock Club Show and Auction
Saturday and Sunday – May 28-29, 2015
The Virginia Beach 4-H Livestock Club of Pungo is a community-based club providing youth the opportunity to have a hands-on involvement in animal science programs within the 4-H Program. The mission of the well-respected and established 4-H program is to develop youth through adult mentors that work directly with the 4-H participant to realize their full potential – becoming effective, contributing citizens through participation in research-based, informal, hands-on educational experiences.
The Virginia Beach 4-H Livestock Club of Pungo will have a large presence at this year’s 28th Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival. Eighty-nine members of the Virginia Beach 4-H Livestock Club (ages 9-19) will be on hand with 124 hogs, steers, and lambs. These young 4-H’ers have been raising these animals for many months preparing for this big event.
The 4-H Livestock Show will begin on Friday, May 27 at 9 a.m. with market animal classes. Fitting and showmanship classes will begin at 1 p.m. The annual 4-H cured ham contest judging will get underway Friday as well. The show continues on Saturday morning starting at 9 a.m. You won’t want to miss the Lamb Obstacle Course or Lamb Costume Contest scheduled to take place starting at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Annual Livestock Sale will take place Saturday at 5 p.m., where the 4-H’ers hard work will really pay off! We hope to see you there!
