Anna Clarke Sas graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Romance Languages with sufficient credits for a double major in Psychology. While at Hopkins, she participated in research on coding language and also focused on psychological and educational testing.
Ms. Sas received her JD in 1987 from George Mason University where she was on law review.
Throughout undergraduate and law school, Ms. Sas worked for government contracting agencies and was involved in procurements of major weapons systems such as AEGIS.
After law school, she clerked for the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals. As an associate with Smith Pachter, Ms. Sas was a member of the litigation team representing a construction contractor on Brantley Dam which received the largest settlement as of 1991 from the federal government. Ms. Sas also published The Recognition of Sureties’ Rights Under Government Contracts, 25 Torts & Ins. L. J. 637 (1990).
Ms. Sas lived in Italy, Norway, and Hawaii. She speaks French and Norwegian and some Italian, German, and Spanish. Upon return to the continental United States in 2002, Ms. Sas taught gifted middle school students and coached cross country and track.
Currently, Ms. Sas practices all aspects of family law including divorce, custody/visitation, equitable distribution, and Guardian ad litem issues.
Ms. Sas has run 10 marathons and has qualified for and run the Boston Marathon. Ms. Sas also participates in sprint triathlons; Ms. Sas’ goal is not to drown, not to dump the bike, and to remain vertical crossing the finish line.
She lives in Virginia Beach with her family.
