David C. Johnson
“We are living in a world where ‘almost correct’ is the same as ‘completely wrong.’”
David C. Johnson spent 25 years flying helicopters in the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring as a lieutenant colonel and entering the field of law. Every day, he puts both his legal knowledge and military professionalism to work for his clients, emphasizing honesty, efficiency and pragmatism in his approach to their cases.
“There is not an easy button in the law. There is hard work to be done to ensure the law works correctly.”
Adept in estate planning and real estate law, Dave sees a troubling trend as the public takes “advice” and purchases legal documents from Internet websites. Increasingly, he finds himself extracting clients from dubious situations and documents that they found on the Internet – documents that do not reflect Virginia law and are written to get clients exactly what they don’t want.
“We are living in a world where ‘almost correct’ is the same as ‘completely wrong.’ The amount of misinformation that you can find on the Internet that is ‘almost correct’ is vast and it can put you and your future at risk.” The corollary is that there is value in doing things correctly the first time.
An avid sportsman, Dave supports wetlands conservation, firearms safety training, 4-H, and related community groups. He currently serves as President of the Virginia Beach chapter of Ducks Unlimited, a conservation-oriented nonprofit, and he sits on the board of directors of the Back Bay Restoration Foundation.
He is the past president and current vice president of the of the Thorough good Civic League and is active in various professional and civic associations throughout Hampton Roads.
